DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin and Woodridge Chief of Police Tom Stefanson announced today, Thursday, April 2, 2026 that the former Treasurer of the Goodrich Elementary School PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is facing charges that she allegedly stole approximately $13,000 from the organization. On March 31, 2026, a DuPage County Grand Jury returned a two-count indictment against Amanda Piasecki, age 39, of the 6500 block of Winston Drive, Woodridge, alleging one count of Theft – $10,000-$100,000 (Class 2 Felony), and one count of Theft – $500-$10,000 (Class 3 Felony). On April 1, 2026, Judge Jill Otte issued an arrest warrant for Piasecki. Early this morning, Piasecki turned herself in to authorities at the DuPage County Jail. As the charges against Piasecki are non-detainable, she was released from custody following her appearance in First Appearance Court.
Piasecki served as the Treasurer of the Goodrich Elementary School PTO. As Treasurer, Piasecki had access to the organization’s funds. According to the indictment, it is alleged that between May 1, 2024, and September 4, 2025, Piasecki “exerted unauthorized control over property of the Goodrich Parent Teacher Organization…being United States currency having a total value exceeding ten thousand dollars…” It is alleged that the amount of money stolen by Piasecki totaled approximately $13,062.97.
“Through her alleged actions, Ms. Piasecki abused the trust placed in her by the Goodrich Elementary School PTO for her own personal gain. This money, approximately $13,000, was intended to be used for the benefit of the children of the school, not for Ms. Piasecki’s personal use, as is alleged in this case. If the allegations in this case are proven true, Ms. Piasecki treated the PTO as her own personal fundraiser and in doing so, lined her own pockets while depriving the Goodrich Elementary School PTO of much-needed funding. I would like to thank authorities at the organization for bringing this matter to the attention of law enforcement and for their complete cooperation throughout the investigation. I also thank the Woodridge Police Department for their work in unraveling Ms. Piasecki’s alleged scheme as well as Assistant State’s Attorneys Anthony Raimondi and Alysa Feld of my office’s Public Integrity/Financial Crimes Division for their efforts in securing charges against Ms. Piasecki.”
— DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin
“This case involved funds that were intended to support students and school programs, which makes it especially disappointing for everyone impacted. I’m proud of the work our investigators put into this case and their commitment to conducting a thorough and professional investigation. We remain committed to working alongside our community partners and supporting those affected. We also appreciate and thank DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin and his office for their guidance and support throughout the investigation.”
— Woodridge Chief of Police Tom Stefanson
The Goodrich PTO Board issued the following statement …
“The Goodrich PTO has been advised of these charges against a former PTO board member. This individual no longer has access to PTO finances, and the Board will continue to cooperate fully with authorities. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and the continued support of our school community. While this matter is under legal review, the PTO and its board will have no further comment at this time.”
Piasecki’s next court date is scheduled for April 6, 2026, in front of Judge Mia McPherson.
Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
