Police, firefighters and paramedics from Addison responded about 11:40 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2026 to a report of a shooting at American Tap, 701 West Lake Street in Addison. Police on arrival located an adult male with apparent gunshot wounds who was transported to an area hospital. The shooting was an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the public, according to the Addison Police Department. The case is under investigation by Addison Detectives.
The initial investigation indicates the shooting occurred outside of American Tap bar on Thursday night at approximately 11:40 p.m. The investigation by Addison Police Department detective included several search warrants, evidence collection operations, and numerous interviews. Detectives learned the incident began with an argument inside the bar, followed by two male individuals going outside and retrieving firearms from their vehicles. The two subjects then fired at each other in the parking lot. One of the male subjects was struck and wounded. He was immediately transported to an area hospital after officers and paramedics provided life saving measures. That individual remains hospitalized.
Both firearms have been recovered.
