
Anthony Miller, age 42, of Schaumburg, is charged with theft by deception of between $10,000 and $100,000; and Theft by deception, defrauding a victim age 60 or older of $5,000 or more. Each charge involves a Class 2 felony.
According to court records, Anthony Miller was accompanied by another male suspect, who initially was not identified. Anthony Miller was accused of going door-to-door representing himself as an employee of a company that performs chimney inspections and driveway repairs. The accomplices were allegedly involved in a crime involving a crime against an 89-year-old Crystal Lake woman. Allegedly, Anthony Miller told the Crystal Lake woman that he repairs chimneys and driveways, and she let him into her home. Next, Anthony Miller allegedly stole $15,000 cash from her bedroom.
The incident involved a cold call by the suspects, with no prearranged appointment.
Anthony Miller was in first appearance court before a McHenry County judge on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, and was released pretrial from McHenry County jail due to the Illinois Pretrial Fairness Act (PFA).
Anthony Miller was ordered prohibited from “door-to-door solicitations for work anywhere in the State of Illinois.
The next scheduled court date for Anthony Miller is Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
