Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 10:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026 to a house fire in the block of 400 West Wing Street in Arlington Heights. Firefighters on arrival saw fire on the west side of the house, and interior firefighters reported smoke on all levels from basement to the second floor. The fire was extinguished by about 10:20 p.m.

Four patients were evaluated by paramedics at the scene, and possibly two people were transported to Northwest Community Hospital. An eyewitness reported three ambulances at the scene — two ambulances from Arlington Heights, and one ambulance from Wheeling Fire Department. Arlington Heights Fire Department Tower Ladder 1 was positioned at the front of the house with the main aerial up. The most severe damage was on the west side of the house. A window on the west side of the house was boarded up. Siding damage occurred nearby, and soot was visible above the front door and above two windows on the second floor on the north side of the house.
