The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating 51-year-old Ruslan Furman, last known to reside in the 16500 block of North Route 83, unincorporated Mundelein. He was last seen near his home wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt.

Ruslan Furman, 6’2″ and 220 LBS with brown hair and brown eyes, has not been seen in over a week; and based on information obtained during the investigation, detectives believe there may be foul play involved in his disappearance.

Yesterday, Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Lake County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, K-9 units and detectives executed a search warrant at his last known residence as part of the ongoing investigation.

Ruslan Furman has several court cases on record in Lake County including speeding, operating an uninsured vehicle, DUI, and battery.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office District of Minnesota, in May 2020, Ruslan Furman was sentenced to two years in prison for aggravated identity theft and ordered to pay $298,644 in restitution to the IRS. From 2013 through 2016, Furman, a salesperson at a vehicle dealership, conspired with Vladimir Chevtayev, Thomas Poplar, and others to defraud financial institutions out of money through an elaborate auto-financing scheme. Furman and others committed the fraud by applying for financing using deceased buyer’s names, stolen identities, or by paying people for the use of their information to buy luxury vehicles. After receiving the loan proceeds, the conspirators laundered the funds through an auto financing company to make the transactions appear legitimate. Co-conspirators Chevtayev and Poplar as of July 9, 2020, had pleaded guilty and were awaiting sentencing. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie E. Allyn.
