OFFICIALS SEEKING VICTIM INFORMATION IN BATAVIA CHIROPRACTOR INVESTIGATION
Investigators are seeking to identify victims of chiropractor David Hanson, owner of Hanson Family Chiropractic in Batavia. Hanson was charged today with:
• Producing Child Pornography, Class X felony (5 counts)
• Disseminating Child Pornography, Class X felony (3 counts)
• Possessing Child Pornography, Class 2 felony (6 counts)
• Unauthorized Video Recording of a Minor Through/Under the Clothes, Class 3 felony (3 counts)
According to the investigation, Hanson secretly videotaped over 180 of his patients as they undressed or were unclothed. The victim ages range from young children to adults. The victims were mostly female. Many of the recordings appear to have been taken from a red light room used for red light and near-infrared light therapy. Hanson made the video recordings using hidden cameras secretly placed throughout his chiropractic office.
Hanson was also found to be possessing and disseminating multiple videos containing child sexual abuse material that were unrelated to his chiropractic practice.
Hanson’s home and his chiropractic office, located at 1928 W. Wilson St. in Batavia, were searched yesterday, November 5, pursuant to a judicial warrant. Hanson was arrested last night. He was brought to court today for a pretrial detention hearing, during which the State argued for his detention.
The Court granted the State’s petition, finding Hanson to be a real and present threat to the community, and ordered him detained while his case is pending. Hanson’s next court date is set for November 10, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. in Courtroom 305 of the Kane County Judicial Center.
This was a joint investigation conducted by the Batavia Police Department and the Child Exploitation Unit of the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. The investigation continues entirely with the State’s Attorney’s Office. Investigators were assisted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, whose ESD K9 (electronic storage detection canine) played a large role in locating the hidden cameras in the business.
The charges against Hanson are not proof of guilt. Hanson is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
If you believe you and/or your minor dependent(s) were victimized by Hanson, or have any additional information that law enforcement should be aware of, please email [email protected] or call (630) 444-3322. An answering machine will take your message and is being monitored.
