Police officers from Lincolnshire, and firefighters and paramedics from the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District responded Tuesday evening, November 4, 2025 to a vehicle vs pedestrian accident that resulted in the death of an 81 year-old Lincolnshire man identified as Bijan Vaziri.
The Lincolnshire Police Department and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District responded about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2025, to a report of a serious vehicle vs pedestrian crash on Milwaukee Avenue near Knightsbridge Parkway in Lincolnshire.
Upon arrival, police officers discovered a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle that was moving southbound on Milwaukee Avenue. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, including CPR and first aid by police officers and Good Samaritans, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates a Dodge Durango, driven by a 58-year-old man of Prospect Heights, was heading southbound on Milwaukee Avenue while an 81 year-old pedestrian was attempting to walk across Milwaukee Avenue. The driver reported he did not see the man, and struck him as he drove southbound.
The driver of the Dodge Durango remained on the scene, and is cooperating with authorities. At this time, impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash; however, the driver of the Dodge Durango submitted to chemical testing and the results are pending. Investigation is ongoing.
The Lincolnshire Police Department is working in conjunction with the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) to conduct a thorough investigation. Milwaukee Avenue was closed temporarily in both directions between Route 22 and Riverside Road to allow for scene reconstruction investigation and evidence collection. The roadway was opened later Tuesday night.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene.
According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, the deceased was identified as 81-year-old Bijan Vaziri, of Lincolnshire. On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, an autopsy was conducted at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Preliminary autopsy results indicate that Mr. Vaziri died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lincolnshire Police Department and MCAT.
The Speed Limit on Milwaukee Avenue at the scene is 40 MPH according to Google Maps Street View images captured June 2025. There is a stoplight at the intersection where there are four lanes southbound, including a left turn lane, a right turn lane, and two straight thru lanes. Knightsbridge Parkway is a boulevard type roadway with curbed grass median with trees.
The crash occurred about 35 minutes after sunset (4:41 PM CST).
