Firefighters and paramedics from the Grayslake Fire Protection District and Grayslake Police police officers responded about 7:05 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025 to a report of a motorcycle operator down and off the roadway in the block of 2100 North Drury Lane. The victim, 19-year-old Nathan Levandowski of Lake Villa, had been located by a family member after a missing persons report had been filed the day prior. The victim was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center with critical injuries.
Based on the seriousness of the crash, the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) of Lake County was requested to assist in the investigation.
Nathan Levandowski died at the hospital 14 days later on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified of the death on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. The preliminary coroner’s investigation indicates that Mr. Levandowski died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Nathan Levandowski, and his Kawasaki 650 sport bike, were traveling northeast on Drury Lane and for an unknown reason failed to navigate the left-turn curve. The motorcycle struck the curb and exited the roadway with the motorcycle and operator coming to rest approximately 40 feet east of the road in undeveloped land between Drury Lane and Third Lake. There was no indication that any other vehicles were involved, and the victim was wearing all the appropriate safety equipment.
The crash remains under investigation by the Grayslake Police Department and MCAT.
Drury Lane is two-lane residential perimeter street (one lane in each direction) with curbs and no shoulder, and a Speed Limit of 30 MPH, according to Google Maps Street View images captured November 2019.
