Serial Sex Offender Arrested Following an Extensive Investigation
The Arlington Heights Police Department announced on Friday night, September 26, 2025 that a register sex offender with a criminal history in Arlington Heights was arrested in Maricopa County, Arizona and transported in custody to Arlington Heights. On September 25, 2025, Sky Findlay was extradited from the Maricopa County Jail in Arizona, by the Arlington Heights Police Department, in accordance with an arrest warrant for Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.
In April 2025, Detectives obtained significant details to re-open an investigation. A criminal investigation was initiated years earlier following information received from the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). It was alleged Sky Findlay had committed sexual-based crimes against children.
The renewed investigation identified compelling evidence indicating Findlay engaged in multiple incidents of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault with minor victims. While this investigation was ongoing, Findlay was serving a prison sentence in Arizona following a conviction related to child sex crimes in that state.
Findlay is a registered sex offender. Findlay previously served a six-year prison sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections following a 1987 arrest by the Arlington Heights Police Department for the Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and the Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault of two children.
Following Findlay’s extradition, detectives reviewed known case facts with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The following criminal charges were approved.
Findlay appeared before Honorable Judge Mandeltort on September 26, 2025 at the Circuit Court of Cook County – Third Municipal District Courthouse – Rolling Meadows. A motion filed by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s to detain Findlay during the pretrial detention hearing was granted.
Sky Findlay was remanded to the custody of the Cook County Sherriff pending trial.
