Police from Arlington Heights responded about 3:46 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2025 to a report of an auto theft in progress in the area between Palatine Road and Lillian Avenue west of Arlington Heights Road. Two or three offenders were apparently interrupted in the process of using a power saw. There was some confusion whether the crime or crimes involved a catalytic converter theft and/or an auto theft or both overnight. The offenders fled in a stolen white Acura sedan with no license plates on Palatine Road toward Route 53. The offenders’ chase vehicle was described as a black Acura SUV. The offenders were last seen fleeing southbound on Route 53 from Palatine Road.
Later, the suspects were spotted by Schaumburg police about 5:15 a.m., and they fled from police eastbound on I-90 near Roselle Road. The stolen vehicle was later tracked at a location in Chicago, but no updated information was available.
No offender physical descriptions were available, and the details or specifics on this crime were a little difficult to piece together. Hopefully there will be a revised summary published later.
