A Buffalo Grove male adult, age 34, faced arrest, an attempted murder charge, and other charges as he was released from hospital admission, where he was being treated for about one week following an alleged attack on his wife. He allegedly tried to suffocate his wife with a pillow while threatening to kill her, and broke her cell phone, according to the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

Police officers from Buffalo Grove responded about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025 to a report of a woman being attacked outside in front of a home in the block of 200 Forest Place in Buffalo Grove. Upon arrival police officers learned the attacker, identified as Cody J. Romano, had fled after attacking the woman inside and outside woman their home.

The woman struggled and broke free from the attack inside the house, and then ran into the street. The offender followed her, but fled after a lawn care worker was able to obstruct the offender’s attempt to drag her back into the home, according to police.

Later, Romano returned to the scene less than hour later, and was taken into custody by Buffalo Grove police officers. Next, Cody J. Romano was transported to a hospital by Buffalo Grove Fire Department paramedics.

In addition to the charge of attempted murder, Cody J. Romano is also charged with aggravated domestic battery, two counts of domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of a domestic battery (August 20, 2025).

In Cook County Circuit Court on Friday, August 29, 2025, Romano was ordered detained in Cook County jail. Romano is being held in the Cook County jail Division 8 RTU (Residential Treatment Unit/Medical and Mental Health).

His next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, 2025 in Cook County Circuit Court Room 108.

Historical court records for Cody J. Romano only indicate court appearances for disobeying a stop sign and driving without insurance in Elgin in Kane County, and speeding in Harvard in McHenry County.
