Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 arrested 22-year-old Aldo Ruiz of Wonder Lake, Illinois this week for Attempted Murder, stemming from a recent expressway shooting investigation.
ISP officers responded on July 12, 2025 to an expressway shooting on I-90 southbound at East River Road in Chicago. One victim had been struck by gunfire and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. After a thorough investigation, ISP agents identified Aldo Ruiz as a suspect. On July 23, 2025, Ruiz turned himself in to ISP Special Agents. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one count of Attempted Murder (Class X Felony).
