A Cincinnati court convicted a man of murder after seeing video of the victim, two weeks before his death, blinking to identify the assailant.
A jury found Ricardo Woods guilty of murder and felonious assault Thursday for the death of David Chandler, who was shot October 28, 2010, while sitting in a car in Cincinnati.
Cincinnati Police interviewed 35-year-old David Chandler after he was shot in the head and neck. He was only able to communicate with his eyes and died about two weeks after the video testimony.
During the trial, jurors viewed a videotaped police interview that prosecutors say showed Chandler blinked three times for “yes” in the identification of Woods as the shooter from a photo. The defense contested the video, saying Chandler’s blinks were inconsistent and unreliable.
