DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Elmhurst Chief of Police Michael McLean announced today, Wednesday, December 21, 2022 that bond has been set for three individuals accused of stealing approximately $343.50 worth of merchandise from an Elmhurst Kohl’s department store.
Trinetta Wells, age 52, of the 4800 block of W Polk Street, Chicago, Sylvester Wells, age 50, of the 4800 block of W. Polk Street, Chicago, and Darryl Foster, age 56, of the 900 block of South Lorraine Road, Wheaton, each appeared at a bond hearing this morning where Judge Margaret O’Connell set bond at …
$40,000 with 10% to apply for Sylvester Wells,
$20,000 with 10% to apply recognizance for Trinetta Wells, and
$10,000 with 10% to apply recognizance for Foster.
All three defendants have been charged with one count of Burglary (Class 2 Felony) and one count of Retail Theft (Class 3 Felony). Trinetta Wells has also been charged with one count of Possession of Another’s Debit Card (Class 4 Felony) and Foster faces an additional count of Misdemeanor Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Elmhurst police officers responded about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022 to a report of a theft at the Kohl’s department store located at 303 South Route 83. While investigating, officers were alerted that a car matching the description of the vehicle allegedly involved in the theft was traveling on I-290 in Des Plaines. With the assistance of a Chicago Police Department helicopter, officers located the vehicle on I-290 and Cicero Avenue and continued tracking the vehicle until it exited the expressway at Independence Boulevard. All three defendants were taken into custody in the area of Madison Street and Springfield Avenue without incident. Allegedly, all three defendants entered the Kohl’s store and went directly to the coat section. Then, all three defendants took one jacket each before fleeing the store. The entire incident lasted approximately three minutes.
Allegedly, police officers found a crack pipe and a straw containing a white powdery substance in Daryl Foster’s pocket.

The next court appearance for all three defendants is scheduled for January 18, 2023, in front of Judge O’Connell.
