Freight Train Derailment on Elmhurst Rd, Just South of Pratt Blvd, Elk Grove Village

VIDEO: Union Pacific and Hulcher Railroad Services crews clear a railroad crossing after a train derailed about 2:50 a.m. Monday.

UPDATE: Elmhurst Road is open to traffic in both directions after derailed train cars were removed from the railroad tracks at the crossing just south of Pratt Boulevard. Video of scene and one of the train cars being re-aligned on the tracks by Hulcher later tonight — targeting by 8:40 p.m.

Elk Grove Village police responded about 2:56 AM Monday to a train derailment on Union Pacific track at Elmhurst Road and Pratt Boulevard Elk Grove Village, IL. Elk Grove Village police are managing traffic in the area of a train derailment on Elmhurst Road, just south of Pratt Boulevard. Elmhurst Road is blocked in both directions.

Traffic near Arthur Avenue and Elmhurst Road and Devon Avenue and York Road is affected. Some other roadways in the area are also affected.

Northbound York Road becomes Elmhurst Road at Devon Avenue.

There are no hazardous materials affected, and no injuries are reported.

A Union Pacific trainmaster, crews and Hulcher railroad services contractor worked to clear the area all morning and early afternoon.
