Chicago-Arlington Heights Snowfall: New Snowfall 2.5 Inches, Snow Cover 5.25 Inches

A total of 2.5 inches of light, dry snow fell from about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Snowfall is currently tapering off already this morning. Snow cover at 6:45 a.m. in Arlington Heights was 5.25 inches on grassy areas and unplowed pavement areas. Snow plows are on the streets. The snow is light, dry and not good packing for snowballs.

At 7:05 a.m. Monday radar shows the major snow precipitation moving toward the east away from the area with no development in western Chicagoland. A show band is still affecting Will County. Infrared satellite at 7:00 a.m. CST Monday shows the trailing edge of clouds at northwestern Illinois and southeast Iowa. All of Illinois is currently under cloud cover. Winter Weather Advisory continues until noon.

Several crashes reported on northbound Route 53 near Biesterfield Road and near Higgins Road.
