Friday’s 1-inch snow is the biggest snow Arlington Heights has seen so far during the winter of 2012-2013.

Snow should taper off by about 11:00 a.m. The long-term forecast for today called for an accumulation of about 2 inches for the northwest suburbs. However, the fast-moving shortwave trough is rapidly moving off to the east, and air behind the tough is dry. No additional snow is expected today, and a special weather statement for today has been cancelled.

Precipitation, according to weather radar images, is entirely east of the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

About one inch of snow accumulated in Arlington Heights between 4:00 a.m. and 8 a.m. Snow cover on the grass is about 1.1 inch.
