High Wind Damage Reports: Power Lines Down, Power Outages, Trees Down

Damaging winds hit the area about 10:30 p.m., causing some damage and power outages. The wind speed is expected to start to decrease just after midnight. Wind gusts have been hitting speeds in excess of 40 mph since about 9:45 p.m. Wind gusts are forecast to be back under 40 mph by 2:00 a.m., and under 30 mph at about 4:00 a.m. The air temperature dropped to 26°F by 11:45 p.m., but was still 40°F at 9:45 p.m.

10:32 p.m. Tree down on power lines in the 800 block of West Elm Street in Arlington Heights.

10:59 p.m. Tree uprooted and lying on another tree that appears as though it may fall on a house in the 1800 block of Surrey Park Lane in Arlington Heights.

11:00 p.m. Power lines down near Rand Road and Hintz Road. traffic signals also out and power out in the area. Traffic signals working at Route 53 exit, but signals out west of Route 53 at Frontage and Rand Road.

11:04 p.m. Large pine tree down at northbound School Street at Robert Avenue, Prospect Heights.

11:06 p.m. Large tree down on Oakton Street, unknown cross street in Elk Grove Village.

11:15 p.m. – Stop sign blown over at Park and Mitchell Avenue in Arlington Heights.

11:20 p.m. Tree down on vehicle on Laurel Street between Oak Street and Ridge Avenue in Elk Grove Village.

11:39 p.m. Traffic light knock down at the southeast corner of Wolf Road and Hintz Road.

11:40 p.m. Power line down at Telegraph and Route 22.

SUNDAY

12:03 a.m. A tree fell on a house in the 1600 block of Ferndale in Northbrook.

10:13 a.m. Damage to vehicle after tree branch fell on vehicle.
