Smoke Investigation for Small Fire in a Garage at a Home on Pine Ave Near Hawthorne St, Arlington Heights

Small fire extinguished in an attached garage on Pine Avenue, Arlington Heights.

Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 4:38 p.m. Monday July 6, 2020 to a report of smoke in a garage with a possible fire in the block of 700 North Pine Avenue in Arlington Heights. Police arrived first on the scene.

Firefighters on arrival reported a haze coming from the garage, and immediately asked residents if they knew what was burning. Firefighters used a thermal camera to check for any possible extension of the fire, and ventilated the garage. The fire was extinguished before firefighters arrived.

Something on a shelving unit possibly overheated or ignited. There was soot visible on the drywall near the shelving unit. Firefighters did not initially describe what was burning. There were no injuries.
