Police and firefighter/paramedics from Zion responded about 10:16 p.m. Saturday July 4, 2020 to a report of a large fight and a shooting connected to a large party at the Hebron Townhouse Apartments in the block of 2700 Hebron Avenue. A second fight was also located at 27th Street and Galilee Avenue.
Officers located a 17-year old male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the neck at the second scene. Officers administered first aid and the Zion Fire & Rescue Department transported the gunshot trauma victim to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. The victim was later transferred to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. He was scheduled to undergo surgery later Sunday. The victim was listed in serious condition.
Officers located six spent shell casings and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun. The crowd size at the party was estimated at over 200 people.
