Police Release Early Information Regarding Fatal Crash at Algonquin Rd and Golf Rd, Arlington Heights

Fatal crash Thursday 10:41 p.m. at Golf Road (Route 58) and Algonquin Road (Route 62) closed roadways for investigation until 4:55 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2020 (VIDEO SHOWS SEVERE DAMAGE TO A VEHICLE; VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED).

On Thursday, March 26, 2020, at about 10:40 p.m. hours, first responders from the Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a traffic crash with entrapment at the intersection of Golf Road and Algonquin Road in Arlington Heights, Illinois, according to the Arlington Heights Police Department.

Video shows firefighter/paramedics and funeral home personnel taking extra precautions with masks and gowns at the time of the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

The crash involved a single motor vehicle — a 2011 Dodge Caliber. According to witnesses and preliminary on-scene investigation, the vehicle was driving eastbound on Golf Road approaching Algonquin Road. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a traffic signal standard on the southeast corner, causing substantial damage to the front and passenger side of the vehicle. The initial 911 caller reported the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. Rolling Meadows Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire and subsequently located the single occupant within the vehicle, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Arlington Heights Police Department Crash Reconstructionists and members of the Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team responded to the scene for investigation. Rolling Meadows Police Department assisted with traffic direction.

The investigation is currently ongoing and no additional information is available and/or ready for release at this time, according to the Arlington Heights Police Department.
