Top Industries That Use Robots: Healthcare, Military, Mining, and Agriculture

While many people picture robots and automation for packaging and shipping, there are many other industries that use these tools to benefit the bottom line and improve efficiency of services.

Living in the 21st century, brings constant technology upgrades that improve daily life in unimaginable ways. Smartphones act as handheld computers, self-driving cars are populating roadways in some cities, and many businesses utilize robots to increase work efficiency. Industrial applications are able to customize robots for specific tasks and operations. Robots make the work environment safer and allow for an entirely new level of accuracy.

Healthcare Robots

With new medical technology and innovation on the rise, medical robots are becoming increasingly popular. Robots help with routine tasks and can even aid with medical procedures. Robotic medical assistants can monitor vitals, alert nurses, monitor several patients at once, and enter information into the health record. Interestingly, medical robots can even help with surgeries. Medical and surgical robots can disinfect rooms, sterilize equipment, and transport, analyze, and record samples and medical data during operations. Robots can be especially helpful with disinfecting rooms by reducing the exposure risk to human cleaners that would otherwise have to disinfect a room.

Military Robots

It’s only fitting that the military utilizes robots to better their efficiency and precision. The military uses these robots to conduct reconnaissance, battle support, and other duties. The most common type are drones. Drones are unmanned aerial surveillance tools that can take photos or videos of enemies, fly into burning or risky situations, fire weapons, and even go into high-risk situations for assessment and emergency response.

Mining Robots

Automation is making tremendous strides with mining robots, which can survey the surface and subterranean regions to identify hazards in a location. Additionally, digging equipment no longer requires human operation at unsafe levels. Instead, automated drilling can dig deeper than with human operators. Improved workplace safety is just one of the main benefits of industrial robotic automation.

Agriculture Robots

The agricultural industry, like the mining industry, historically features humans and machines working together to produce high yields of crops and livestock. Today, there are some robotic technologies that allow farmers to manage their farms with less hands-on action. Tractors, harvesters, combines, and other equipment are self-guided using GPS, and even operations like mowing, spraying, weed removal, and pest and disease control see robotic technology. Farmers can map out their property on a satellite image of their property in order to cover their land with fertilizer or pest control applications.
