Child Found Down on Side of the Road, Seriously Injured Near Deerfield Rd and Beverly Place, Deerfield

CBS Chicago: Hit-and-run reported at Deerfield Road and Beverly Place, but Deerfield police initially did not confirm the age of the victim.

Police and firefighter/paramedics from Deerfield responded about 7:12 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2020 to a report of child down on the side of the road near Deerfield Road and Beverly Place. A passerby reported discovering the child down, and apparently seriously injured.

UPDATE: A Deerfield Police Department investigation points to an offending vehicle that is possibly a dark-colored 2013-2016 Ford Escape with an SEL or Titanium trim package. The vehicle may have extensive damage to the passenger side headlight assembly, fender and grill, according to Deerfield Police Department.

Citizens with information are urged to contact the Deerfield Police Department at 847-945-8636.

UPDATE 2: The victim, age 12, was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and later transferred to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

Paramedics immediately rushed the child from the scene to the hospital.

Initially it is not known whether the child is a pedestrian that was hit by a vehicle. The incident scene is located near Briarwood Country Club.
