Flames were seen shooting through the roof of the Round Lake home on Fairfield just south of Lake Shore Drive.
Round Lake Police and firefighter/paramedics from Round Lake Fire Protection District responded about 6:50 p.m. Monday February 3, 2020 to a report of a house fire on Fairfield Road just south of Lake Shore Drive. Heavy smoke conditions were visible from the outside.
UPDATE: The fire rekindled at about 1:10 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2020. A MABAS Box Alarm for tenders only was activated at 1:12 a.m. The Box Alarm for tenders only was struck out at 2:52 a.m.
A MABAS Box Alarm (#26-11) was activated at 7:00 p.m. Mutual aid was assigned from Countryside, Grayslake, Lake Villa, Libertyville, McHenry, Nunda, and Spring Grove. A Lake Zurich crew was assigned to a Round Lake fire station for standby.
A Second Alarm for MABAS Box #26-11 was activated at 7:19 p.m. Mutual aid was assigned from Antioch, Buffalo Grove, Cary, Lake Villa, Long Grove, and Newport. A Wauconda crew was also heard on the air. A Richmond crew was assigned to a Round Lake fire station for station standby.
Tender or Tanker truck crews were assigned to this fire. Smoke conditions appeared to be improving from 7:40 p.m. to 7:51 p.m. Buffalo Grove’s crew was assigned work at the scene at about 7:56 p.m.
Fire command declared at 8:32 p.m. that the fire was knocked down, and that firefighters were working on hot spots. The MABAS Division 4 Box Alarm was struck out by 8:45 p.m.
Initially, no injuries were reported at the fire.
Initially, Fairfield Road was shut down between Lake Shore and Forest Avenue, then Fairfield was shut down between Rollins Road and Forest Avenue.
TRAFFIC ALERT: Fairfield Road is closed in both directions, just south of Rollins Road, unincorporated Round Lake, due to a structure fire. Please avoid the area.
