Shooting Inside Naval Air Station Pensacola: Shooter Dead, 2 Others Dead, Multiple Injured

Authorities update the media at Naval Air Station Pensacola shooting.

Police and firefighter/paramedics from Pensacola and Naval Air Station Pensacola authorities responded about 6:51 a.m. local time (CT) December 6, 2019 to a report of an active shooter at the Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida. Early reports are that 10 people have been transported to area hospitals.

The shooter is confirmed dead, and at least three other people were shot and killed. Three were dead at the scene. One died at a hospital, and eight people were being treated at area hospitals. Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said that two deputies were shot. One deputy was shot in the arm and one deputy was shot in the knee. The deputy who was shot in the knee was in surgery at the time of a press conference at 9:50 a.m.

Sheriff David Morgan stated that an Escambia County Sheriff’s deputy negated the threat.

Authorities initially would not answer the specific classroom building area where the shooting occurred, and would not reveal the type of weapon that was used.

Initially local news media reported that at least five patients were transported to Baptist Health Care from the shooting scene, and Sacred Heart Hospital confirmed six patients were incoming from the active shooter scene at NAS Pensacola.

The base is closed until further notice.

As of 10:00 a.m. Friday December 6, 2019, the Escambia County Sheriff Office (Twitter.com/ecsonews) did not post any notifications about the shooting.
