Donald Trump has a message for Apple CEO Tim Cook …
“To Tim: The Button on the IPhone was FAR better than the Swipe!”
The tweet on the president’s Twitter timeline appeared Friday afternoon October 25, 2019, and criticized Apple’s decision to removed the physical Home Button on the front of new models of the iPhone. The president was also openly critical of Apple in 2013 and 2014 for Apple’s failure to make a larger screen available before the iPhone 6 Plus was introduced. The iPhone 6 Plus was released on September 19, 2014.

When the first Apple iPhone model was introduced by Steve Jobs in 2007, iPhones for ten years were manufactured with a physical Home Button that causes the iPhone to display the iPhone’s main home screen. However in 2017, the iPhone X was manufactured without the physical Home Button in favor of a touch screen interface that involves swiping to display the main home screen. Many people were annoyed by loss of the simpler Home Button.
The disappointment about the lack of a simple physical Home Button has been published in Forbes, Travel + Leisure; and blogs such as Mac Rumors, AppleInsider, Know Your Mobile, Hacker Noon, Lifewire and more.
Apple has also been criticized for the controversial removal of the 3.5 mm headphone jack with the release of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus released September 16, 2016. Apple was also mocked by critics for Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller’s statement that such a drastic change required “courage.” There’s actually a long list of reversed features or removed features that have gotten iPhone and Mac users riled up over the years. Fortunately, there is a way to activate a software-version of a Home Button on your iPhone that has no Home Button.
HOW TO GET YOUR IPHONE HOME BUTTON BACK ON A HOME BUTTONLESS IPHONE
Some people are tired of failed swipes that result in two or more attempts to get to the Home Screen. There is recourse anti-swipers. For users who want to simulate a Home Button, you can go to Settings to create a virtual Home Button. You might enjoy this Home Button even if your phone has the old hardware Home Button.

Go to AssistiveTouch and turn it on with the Slide Switch.
An opaque “Home Button” will appear on your iPhone screen — including the home screen and all sub-screens. You can drag the “Home Button” to a variety of positions on your screen. You can also change the opacity of the AssistiveTouch “Home Button” to make it less visible on home screens. Common commands are included with the AssistiveTouch Home Button, which might offer users a more expeditious workflow.
