A Naperville woman who suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash Tuesday afternoon October 8, 2019 at Wehrli Road and Hobson Road near the east border of Naperville has died from her injuries.
Jacqueline L. Steffeter, 66, was involved in a crash about 1:10 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Wehrli Road and Hobson Road. Steffeter was injured along with three other people in a two-vehicle crash.
Naperville Fire Department activated an EMS Box Alarm, treating and transporting Jacqueline L. Steffeter, along with two passengers in her vehicle and a passenger in the second vehicle, which was driven by a 21 year-old Streamwood man. None of the other crash victims’ injuries were initially assessed to be life-threatening.
A preliminary investigation by Naperville Police Department indicated that Steffeter was driving northbound on Wehrli Road when she disobeyed a red light traffic signal. Her Subaru Forester was struck by a Subaru Outback that was being driven westbound on Hobson Road by the 21-year-old Streamwood man.
Naperville police conducted an extended accident investigation because of the life-threatening injuries suffered by Steffeter.
The intersection of Wehrli Road and Hobson Road was closed for more than three hours Tuesday afternoon for the crash investigation. After the on-scene investigation, the Naperville Police Department’s traffic unit is continuing the investigation.
The Speed Limit on northbound Wehrli Road is 40 MPH, according to Google Maps Street View on October 2018. The Speed Limit on westbound Hobson Road is 45 MPH, according to Google Maps Street View on October 2018. Both roads are 4-lane roads with a fifth left turn lane at the intersection. Wehrli Road becomes College Road north of Hobson Road.

No citations or charges were initially filed.
