Antioch police responded about 3:30 a.m. Monday morning October 7, 2019 Neuhaven subdivision north Deercrest Drive and Route 173 to a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle in progress. Police officers located a black Ford Flex in the area, which was believed to be involved in the crime. There was possibly another vehicle involved in the crime and associated with the black Ford Flex.

The driver of the black Ford Flex fled at an extremely high rate of speed and was last seen eastbound on Route 173 from Savage Road. Due to the reckless manner which the vehicle was being driven and the potential risk created to the public, officers did not pursue the vehicle.

Police suspect the vehicle may have been stolen from a neighboring community for use in the commission of the crimes. The suspects may have also been attempting vehicle burglaries in the area of North Shore Avenue and Beach Road in Beach Park. Suspects with similar descriptions and vehicle descriptions were last seen in the Beach Park area northbound on Lewis Road from Beach Road at about 2:30 a.m.

Antioch police determined that the occupants of the vehicle(s) entered multiple unlocked vehicles in the neighborhood to commit thefts. The occupants were described as a female/black and a male/black. Antioch police are asking residents of Neuhaven to review their security and doorbell camera images in an attempt to secure images of the suspects.

Antioch police are also asking that if you have video of the suspects, or were a victim, to contact the Antioch Police Department at 847-395-8585.

Antioch police reminded residents about the importance of always removing valuables from their vehicles and to always lock their vehicle’s. Many people keep their remote garage door openers in their vehicles, which if stolen can give criminals easy access to their homes.
