Des Plaines police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:51 AM Sunday August 25, 2019 to a report of a person hit by a Metra train near Lee Street and Miner Street Des Plaines, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics on arrival discovered that a pedestrian was hit and killed by a Metra train.
Metra police and Des Plaines police investigating.
Metra described Train #706, scheduled to arrive Chicago at 10:09 AM, was operating 134 minutes behind schedule. However Metra did not indicate what train was involved in the pedestrian incident, but did announce a pedestrian incident.
On Twitter alerts, Metra did not confirm a pedestrian incident with a timeline tweet until a third tweet at 12:18 p.m. Sunday August 25, 2019.
