Three suspects were charged Thursday afternoon in the homicide of pregnant teenager Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, whose body was placed in a garbage can after her baby cut out of her womb.

Chicago Police Department Superintendent Eddie Johnson and police officials announced Thursday afternoon May 16, 2019 that three suspects were charged in connection with the death of Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, age 19, who was lured into a house on 77th Place near Karlov Avenue, and who was nine months pregnant when she was reported missing on Tuesday April 23, 2019. Her body was discovered just after midnight Tuesday/Wednesday in a trash bin behind a home in the block of 4100 West 77th Place.

Clarisa Figueroa, 46, and her daughter, Desiree Figueroa, 24, were charged with first-degree murder and felony aggravated battery to a child less than 13 years old — causing permanent disability.

Piotr Bobak, 40, was charged with concealing a homicide. Piotr Bobak is described as Clarisa Figueroa’s boyfriend.

Police revealed Thursday May 16, 2019 that Figueroa’s daughter confessed to helping her mother strangle 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez. Police said Marlen Ochoa-Lopez was strangled with a coax cable, and that her baby boy was cut from her womb after the murder. Police said the home had a hidden room in the basement.

FETAL ABDUCTION
Fetal Abduction is an unlawful, non-medical cesarian section in order to commit a newborn kidnapping. In a study in the Journal of Forensic Sciences, behavioral profiles of the abductors included a confidence style approach to the victim mother, deception, and planning of the cesarean section. The forensic psychodynamics suggest a dual motive to cement a failing partner relationship and to fulfill a childbearing and delivery fantasy. Cesarean section murder suggests a new category of personal cause homicide.

Chicago Fire Department firefighters and paramedics responded to a report of an infant in distress about 6:10 p.m. Tuesday April 23, 2019 to the 1-story home on West 77th Place — the same day that Marlen Ochoa-Lopez was reported missing, and was already likely dead.

Police said that on May 7, 2019 a friend of Marlen Ochoa-Lopez told detectives that Marlen Ochoa-Lopez was using a ”chat site” on Facebook. Yesterday Marlen’s family reported she was using a Facebook group known has “Help a Sister Out.” Marlen Ochoa-Lopez apparently arrived at the home expecting to exchange items. A 46-year-old woman claimed to have a stroller and other baby items.

DECEPTION Described
”She was giving clothes away, supposedly under the pretenses that her daughters had been given clothes and they had all these extra boy clothes, and that’s where the false pretenses that I believe led her [Marlen Ochoa-Lopez] to that house.“

— Cecelia Garcia, a spokeswoman for Ochoa-Lopez’s family

Ochoa-Lopez’s family said she went to the home on West 77th Place to get items for her unborn boy, arranging the meeting via the Facebook group. The group, which is reported to have included over 32,000 members, has since been archived by Facebook (hidden from public view).

A 46-year-old woman, now identified as Clarisa Figueroa, claimed to have a stroller and other baby items — extra boy clothes. Just after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 23, 2019 the 46-year-old woman ran out of the home, claiming that she had just given birth to a baby boy and that the boy wasn’t breathing. Paramedics were called, according to neighbors.

The baby was transported by Chicago Fire Department paramedics to Advocate Christ Medical Center in suburban Oak Lawn, which is near Chicago’s Southwest Side Scottsdale/Ashburn neighborhood where the crime scene is located.

The baby boy is hospitalized at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Yesterday, the family said they named the baby boy Yadiel, and that the baby is brain dead and on life support. The family said they are praying for a miracle.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office on Wednesday identified the body found at the home on West 77th Place as Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, and ruled her death a homicide.

Police confirmed that DNA testing proved Yadiel is connected to Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, and today confirmed that they don’t expect the baby boy to survive.

Note: Marlen Ochoa-Lopez was initially reported as Marlen Ochoa-Uriostegui (aka).
