Brian Quartuccio, who police say took off after hitting a 7-year-old girl riding her bike Sunday in St. Charles, has been charged with multiple felonies, authorities say (CBS Chicago Suzanne Le Mignot report).

Brian Quartuccio, who police say took off after hitting a 7-year-old girl riding her bike Sunday in St. Charles, has been charged with two felonies and two other driving-related charges.

Lexi, whose last name has not been provided by her family, was injured Sunday in a hit-and-run crash.

Hit-and-Run suspect Brian Quartuccio, 42, turned himself in to investigators about noon Monday May 13, 2019. Kane County Sheriff’s Office report he became a person of interest when police and investigators determined his wallet was at the scene of the abandoned pickup truck that was involved in the crash with the 7-year-old girl. He had parked the truck, which CBS Chicago reports was his friends truck, about 1.5 mile from the scene, and dropped his wallet with his ID while fleeing on foot.

The crash occurred near Illinois Street, Courier Avenue, and Geneva Avenue, just south of a bend in the Fox River between St. Charles and South Elgin.

Monday afternoon Brian Quartuccio was charged with …

leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury,

driving on a revoked license,

driving an uninsured motor vehicle, and

failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The first two alleged offenses are felonies.

Quartuccio’s license had been revoked in 2012. His previous driving charges and citations include …

three DUIs,

three citations for a driving on a revoked license,

five citations for driving without insurance, and

seven speeding tickets.

Lexi is recovering at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Her family said she has multiple broken bones, and may have to spend a few weeks in the hospital, but is expected to recover. Firefighter/paramedics at the scene of the crash had requested a medical helicopter. Lexi was transported by the medevac helicopter “Superior AirMed1” to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, which has a Pediatric Critical Care Center designation from the State of Illinois.
