Kimberly Endicott, an American tourist who was kidnapped in Uganda and held captive for nearly five days, shared her story in an exclusive interview with “CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King. King joined CBSN to talk about what Endicott had to say.
While on a tour at the Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda, Kimberly Endicott, from California, was abducted for five days. In early April 2019, after she was kidnapped on a lonely road along with her tour guide and an elderly couple, the elderly couple was released but the tour guide and Kimberly Endicott were held captive all the way on a walk to cross the border from Uganda to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
While a search effort was underway, the kidnappers began making calls to the tour company demanding a ransom and giving tour guide JP Mirenge Remezo and Kimberly Endicott the phone at points in the negotiations.

A ransom was finally paid, but it has never been clear where the money came from, or the amount of the ransom. A woman from the Ugandan Wildlife Authority met with Endicott’s captors and handed over the money. The woman and a man with a motorcycle then took the two freed captives to safety.
Once they were free, the abduction was reported across the world.
