Richmond police are investigating a road rage incident captured from two opposing drivers’ vehicles. Each driver posted their videos on social media after an encounter on northbound Route 12 just north of Broadway Road in Richmond. The road rage incident occurred about 4:43 p.m. Tuesday April 16, 2019, according to the date/time stamp on dash cam video.
Bart Surroz, of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, posted video from his cell phone on Facebook, which shows his perspective as he walks up to a red Jeep Wrangler that Surroz says was following him. He also said the driver of the Jeep Wrangler was blaring his horn. The driver in the red Jeep Wrangler displays a black handgun, and yells at Surroz to get in his car. The driver of the Jeep Wrangler then rapidly drives away, continuing northbound on Route 12.
Surroz obtained the other driver’s dash cam video, which was also posted online. The dash cam video, re-uploaded to Surroz’s Facebook page, shows three stages: some reckless driving leading up to the the encounter, the actual encounter, and some reckless driving after the encounter.
The incident when the gun was displayed occurred in front of the Leather Shoppe and Main Street Coffee Co. across the street. US 12 is known as Main Street in downtown Richmond. The road rage incident is under investigation.
