Nile police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:27 p.m. Sunday March 10, 2019 to a report of a woman hit by a car at 8660 Golf Road on Golf Road near Greenwood Drive.
A female victim was found in front of a Greek restaurant in the eastbound lanes. The female victim was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The pedestrian pedestrian was identified as Annama Abraham, age 61. Police say she was walking east on Golf Road just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday near the curb of the road.
Annama Abraham was struck by a Honda driven by a 46-year-old Glenview woman, who stopped and called police.
Police report the driver was not impaired at the time of the crash and that she is cooperating with the investigation. The Speed Limit in the area is 35 MPH.
Five pedestrians have been killed in the Niles and Morton Grove area in the past 17 months. Four of the pedestrian deaths — 3 in recent months — prompted Niles police to issue a warning to pedestrians to use extra caution.
A 78-year-old man, Michael Horner of Niles, was also killed in Niles on January 25, 2019 while crossing Dempster Street at Western Avenue.
Morton Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:18 p.m. Friday January 4, 2019 after Leonid Belogur, age 86, was hit by a vehicle near the intersection of Shermer Road and Greenwood Avenue. According to Morton Grove police the incident is believed to have occurred between 5:02 p.m. and 5:18 p.m. The driver fled the scene.

Niles police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:50 AM Friday October 13, 2017 to a report of a person hit by a vehicle at Touhy Avenue and Central Niles. Patricia M. Dahnke, 63, was pronounced dead at Lutheran General at 7:27 a.m.
Also a serious car crash occurred at the border of Niles and Morton Grove. Two woman were killed in a two vehicle crash involving a Cook County Sheriff’s police squad in Niles.
