Arlington Heights Fire Chief Andrew Larson was sworn in at 8:12 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2019. Larson served as Acting Fire Chief following the retirement of Fire Chief Ken Koeppen on November 15, 2018.

Deputy Chief Larson was previously sworn in as Deputy Chief at the village board meeting Monday, December 4, 2017 by Mayor Tom Hayes.

Larson chairs the Executive Committee at Northwest Central Dispatch System, and is Secretary Treasure for MABAS Division 1. He has served in many leadership roles, including battalion chief, public education officer, lieutenant, and public education officer. Larson also served as an engineer and paramedic earlier in his career.

The Village of Arlington Heights benefits from Larson’s education and career experience. Larson earned his Bachelor of Science in Fire Service Management at Southern Illinois University, and his Masters of Public Administration at Northern Illinois University. Chief Andrew Larson has also earned over 12 certifications from the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal and several certifications from the Federal Emergency Management Agency – NIMS (National Incident Management System).

Deputy Chief Larson, a 20-year veteran of the fire department, joined the fire department on January 6, 1997.

On November 28, 2016 Andrew Larson was promoted to Battalion Chief, and in this video he is working one of his first calls as a Battalion Chief on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 about 11:04 a.m. after a car crashed into Zip Fitness on Rand Road in Arlington Heights.
