Campbell police responded Friday morning February 8, 2019 to a report that a male offender armed with a gun is barricaded inside a Denny’s restaurant on Bascom Avenue in Campbell, California — southwest of San Jose.
Police upon arrival learned that a man that had been in the Denny’s restaurant confronted another man in parking lot, threw a cup of coffee at him and displayed and pointed a gun. The suspect then went back inside the Denny’s and sat down at a booth. Employees and customers evacuated the restaurant, and police believe he is the only person inside.
A SWAT team responded to the scene and a Bearcat armored vehicle was positioned near the restaurant while police attempted to communicate and with the man for a peaceful outcome.
