High 52, But Dropping This Afternoon with Northwest Winds, Cold Front, Arlington Heights, Chicago Weather Forecast Northwest

#ad▼

Monday February 4, 2019 will be the last day of our recent mild weather, which melted a lot of deep snow cover over the weekend. However, a cold front will enter northeast Illinois between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The air temperature will begin dropping from about 52°F at 12:30 p.m. down to 32°F by 11:00 p.m. Monday. A stiff southwest wind has kept a chill in the air this morning, and will bring a greater chill when winds shift from the northwest by 3:30 p.m. Winds have been gusting from the southwest has high as 28 MPH.

Two Low Pressure Centers on the National Forecast Chart are passing through — one entering southwest Wisconsin, and one passing through southern Missouri and southern Illinois.

There is concern about freezing rain with ice accumulations especially north of the I-80 Tuesday night (starting 7PM) through early Wednesday morning (5AM); and again a lesser amount Wednesday night (7PM to 10PM).

Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows rain moving southwest to northeast, mostly south of Interstate 80.
