Libertyville police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:50 a.m. Monday January 28, 2019 to the block of 600 Bridle Court for a reported traffic crash in the roadway involving a Village of Libertyville snowplow and a pedestrian.

Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find an adult male with severe trauma. The adult male was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Libertyville Police Department. The circumstances are being investigated by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, according to the village.

A man was struck and killed Monday morning by a village snowplow truck in Libertyville.

UPDATE: The early report — not confirmed by officials — is that an older adult male was using his snowblower to clear his driveway, when he was hit while the snowplow truck was backing up in the cul-de-sac.

The snow plow driver was placed on paid administrative leave pending the results of the investigation, according to a Libertyville news release.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning January 29, 2019, according to Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper.

The identity of the victim was not initially released, and police did not specify whether the victim lived in the neighborhood.

The Libertyville news release from Libertyville Police Department Lt. Ed Roncone stated, “As a result of the active investigation, no further information or comments will be provided by the Village of Libertyville.”

Bridle Court is a 260-ft street with a cul-de-sac in southeast Libertyville in a residential neighborhood, east of Milwaukee Avenue between Greggs Parkway and Golf Road.
