11 Million iPhone Batteries Were Replaced Last Year
After news broke last year that Apple was slowing down aging iPhone batteries, they launched a battery replacement program. Insider John Gruber says the company replaced 11 million iPhone batteries during 2018. 11 million replaced iPhone batteries is 10 times more than the 1 to 2 million Apple expected to replace.
Apple Might Switch iPhones to USB-C and Launch New iPod Touch
Apple is rumored to be planning to release three new iPhones this year. The new phones are said to feature a new port. Apple might switch 2019 iPhones ports from lightning USB-C, instead of Lightning connections. 2018 iPad pros and Mac computers have already adopted USB-C ports.
Apple is also rumored to be developing a new iPod touch. The iPod touch is the only iPod still sold today, as Apple discontinued the nano and shuffle back in 2017. There is nothing sensational in store, according to rumour. The device is only expected to be marketed to younger users, who may add some purchasing power to expand income from iCloud storage, the App Store, iTunes, and Apple Music.

Apple introduced new battery cases for recent iPhone models on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. The cases are available in black and white and cost $129. The cases are available for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. According to Apple, the Smart Battery cases are compatible with wireless charging pads, and can power an iPhone for up to 21 hours of internet use, increasing the battery life an iPhone can get on a single charge. The cases are considerably more expensive than batteries from Mophie.
Qualcomm Refused to Let Apple Use Their Modems
Chief operating officer Jeff Williams revealed Qualcomm refused to let Apple use their modems in the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR. Apple shared they have been paying $7.50 per device, five times more than the desired $1.50 per device. Qualcomm refused to sell the chips because of Apple’s lawsuit from 2017. Intel is now the sole provider of modems after Qualcomm’s refusal.
Apple’s First A24 film to Reunite Bill Murray and Sofia Coppola
Apple is preparing for their upcoming streaming service that they hope will be able to compete with Netflix, Amazon, and Disney.
