One Dead, One with Superficial Gunshot, Shooter at Large After Shooting at Orland Square Mall, Orland Park

Orland Park police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:30 PM Monday January 21, 2019 to a report of an active shooter with at least one person shot at Orland Square Mall, 288 Orland Square Drive Orland Park, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that one person was down with a possible gunshot wound in the lower level in the mall floor near Sears.

UPDATE: A 19 year-old male was killed and a second man was grazed by a bullet in the leg between 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Monday. Police believe the shooter and victim knew each other, and that the victim was the intended target. Police believe the victim with the superficial did not know the offender or the victim.

The shooter is described as a male/black 6’1″ wearing dark clothing and blue jeans.

Orland Park Fire Department activated a MABAS EMS Box Alarm at the Orland Square Mall at 7:00 p.m.

Witnesses reported shots fired at the mall.

One person, reported to be a 19 year-old male, was initially transported with life-threatening injuries to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. A witness reported seeing CPR being performed on a victim.

WGN’s Tahman Bradley was inside the mall and heard multiple shots fired and saw people running inside the mall.
