The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF), apprehended Torrey L. Tyler, 26, a wanted shooter, of the block of 1200 Victoria Avenue, North Chicago on Thursday, January 17, 2019.

Torrey Tyler was wanted on a felony warrant for …

Aggravated Battery with a Firearm,

Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm,

Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and

Reckless Discharge of a Weapon

Tyler’s bond totaled $500,000.00. The warrant stemmed from a 2016 investigation by the North Chicago Police Department into an incident where Tyler discharged a firearm during an altercation and struck a victim in the leg. An extensive fugitive apprehension effort was initiated, and it was learned Tyler fled Illinois to avoid apprehension.

On January 15, 2019, information was developed by Warrants Team Deputies which indicated Tyler was back in Illinois — staying at an apartment in the block of 800 Greenwood Avenue, Waukegan. Warrants Deputies entered the apartment and discovered that Tyler had fled just prior to their arrival. Warrants Deputies discovered a missing juvenile, three firearms, and narcotics inside the apartment. The Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force responded and is investigating the firearms and narcotics. Charges regarding the firearms and narcotics are pending.

The missing juvenile was returned to the juvenile’s guardians.

On January 17, 2019, Warrants Deputies obtained information indicating Tyler was at a residence in the area of Horeb Avenue and Salem Boulevard, Zion. Surveillance was established and Warrants Deputies observed Tyler enter a vehicle with an unknown female. Warrants Deputies conducted a traffic stop and took Tyler into custody without incident. The female in the vehicle was identified as Yvonne D. Spates, 24, of the block of 2900 Ezra Avenue, Zion. Both Yvonne D. Spates and Torrey L. Tyler were found to be in possession of cocaine and heroin.

Tyler remains held in the Lake County Jail on $500,000.00 bail and is due in court on Wednesday February 13, 2019, at 1:30PM.

Spates was released from the Lake County Jail after posting 10% of her $5,000.00 bond. She is due in court on Tuesday February 5, 2019, at 1:30PM.
