The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service-Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) on Friday January 4, 2019, apprehended John A. Redmond, 31. Redmond, a registered sexual offender, was wanted for failure to appear on a previous Criminal Sexual Abuse case (bond amount $150,000.00). The Criminal Sexual Abuse charges stem from a 2013 Vernon Hills Police investigation. He was also wanted for Child Pornography (Class X Felony – bond amount $500,000.00). The Child Pornography charges stem from a 2016 Mundelein Police investigation.

Redmond previously resided in the block of 2000 Butrick Street, Waukegan, but members of the Sheriff’s Warrants Team developed information John A. Redmond was likely avoiding apprehension by staying with a family member in the Oakbrook Estates manufactured home community in the block of 300 Valhalla Circle, Crystal Lake.

Redmond’s information was posted to the Lake County Sheriff’s Most Wanted List and anonymous sources provided the possible whereabouts for Redmond, including a possible construction site in the block of 26200 Elmwood Lane, Fremont Township, where he was working.

On Friday, January 4, 2019, Redmond was seen leaving the Crystal Lake residence. Warrants Team Deputies followed him to the Fremont Township worksite and arrested him without incident. Redmond’s father, Edward A. Redmond, 68, of the block of 300 Valhalla Circle, was also arrested for Obstructing Service of Process (Class B Misdemeanor), for his role in concealing John from authorities.

John Redmond remains held in the Lake County Jail on $500,000.00 bail. He is next due in court on January 29, 2019 at 1:30PM in Lake County courtroom T110.

Edward Redmond was processed and released on a $1,500.00 Recognizance Bond. He is next due in court on January 29, 2019 at 9:00AM in Lake County courtroom C405.

Sheriff Idleburg reminds the community that defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
