Arlington Heights Police Department on Friday evening released the identity of the driver show crashed his car into the newly constructed Arlington Heights Police Station at 200 East Sigwalt Street.

Police say that Sam O. Kerlin, age 44, of the 0-99 block of South Vail Avenue in Arlington Heights crashed into the new Arlington Heights Police Station on November 11, 2018 and was released from a local hospital today. Kerlin was arrested and transported to the police department where he was charged with several traffic offenses, including …

Speeding 35mph or more over the posted speed limit

Reckless Driving

Driving under the influence of drugs

Improper lane usage.

Kerlin was processed and released on bond. His initial court appearance is scheduled on January 7, 2019 at 9:00 am, Room 103 at the Cook County Courthouse, Rolling Meadows, IL.

Police also released their security video that captured Kerlin’s 2015 VW GTI, which was traveling westbound on Sigwalt Street at very high rate of speed. Kerlin lost control of his car between Fire Station 1 and the new Arlington Heights Police Station. Kerlin’s Volkswagen left the roadway and cartwheeled across the police station landscaping, slamming into the new facility.
