A Nor’easter has added to the woes of New Yorkers still dealing with the effects of Superstorm Sandy. The thick, wet snow snapped storm-weakened trees and downed power lines, but didn’t appear to add much more to the devastation.

A nor’easter hit New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Wednesday, with snow, rain and heavy winds. The storm is knocking out power to thousands, including some who just had it restored.

A nor’easter struck New York and Jersey on Wednesday, threatening to swamp homes all over again, plunge neighborhoods back into darkness and inflict more misery on tens of thousands of people still reeling from Superstorm Sandy.

New York was under a NWS High Wind Warning again with wind gusts expected at 60 mph or higher. Long-term health care facilities were evacuated on the Rockaways peninsula of Long Island. The Rockaways is the location where about 111 homes were destroyed and 20 were damaged in a fire that spread out of control during flood and storm conditions of Hurricane Sandy/SuperStorm Sandy.
