Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:20 AM Monday to a smoke investigation at Ridge Avenue and Devon Avenue. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a strong smoke odor like a bon fire in the area. At about 1238 a.m. police and firefighters discovered the source at a large mulch pile fire at 212 East Devon Avenue at Powell Tree Care.

Firefighters stretched out 300-400 feet of 5-inch hose and put the Tower Ladder to work on the mulch pile fire. The fire was extinguished about 1:50 a.m.

Cook County Sheriff’s police also assisted on the fire call.
