Two men, who walked away from a Wisconsin correctional center, face charges in a crime spree including brutalizing a 71-year-old convenience store clerk in Florida. Full surveillance video below.

Surveillance video released by Hillsbourough County Sheriff’s Office shows an assault of an elderly store clerk during an armed robbery in Seffner, Florida. James Newman, 29, and James Mislevick, 19 were recorded on surveillance tape beating store clerk Hasimbhai Indawala after a knifepoint robbing the Convenience Store at 102 Highway 92 W and Kingsway Road in Seffner in Hillsborough County, Florida.

Earlier, the two suspects James Newman, 29, and James Misleveck, 18, went on a cross-country crime spree after escaping from the Jackson Correction Institution in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. The two inmates walked away from a boot camp and had been last seen about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2012, wearing tan t-shirts and gray shorts.

Law officers believe Mislevick and Newman stole a 12 gauge shotgun and ammunition out of a vehicle a short distance from the boot camp. They walked to the Brockway Township area and stole a Ford Ranger pickup truck. Also, shortly after escaping from the boot camp, they abducted a woman from the Majestic Pines Casino, and stole her Mercury Mountaineer. They ordered the female in the back seat while they pointed the shotgun at her, according to her report. They left the Ford Ranger at the casino with Mislevick’s Department of Correction ID car inside the vehicle.

They stole a pickup truck in Spart, Wisconsin and were spotted on Interstate 90 in Monroe County by the Wisconsin State Patrol. The pursuit continued to Highway 131 where the inmates escaped into a corn field on foot. The stolen shotgun was discovered in the stolen pickup truck.

Next they stole a 1996 black Chrysler Concorde with Wisconsin license plates that they drove to Florida. Newman and Mislevick were spotted in the Chrysler Concorde on a parking ramp at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Police attempted to stop the inmates, but another high speed chase began. The inmates baled out of the Chrysler in a residential neighborhood, and Mislevick was caught by police while trying to scale a fence. Newman climbed a tree, was surrounded by police, and was caught when he jumped from the tree and tried to run. He was taken down by a police K-9 dog.

At least 11 law agencies assisted the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department (Wisconsin) in the capture and investigation of James Mislevick and James Newman — Broward County Sheriff’s Department (Florida); the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department (Florida) the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department (Wisconsin); the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department (Wisconsin); the Seminole Police Department (Florida), the Sparta Police Department (Wisconsin); the Tomah Police Department (Wisconsin); the Wisconsin Department of Justice, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Detectives need the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects that brutalized a 71 year old convenience store clerk. On July 22, 2012 at 9:02 p.m., two unknown suspects entered the US 92 Convenience Store located at 102 Highway 92 W and Kings Avenue in Seffner.

One suspect grabbed the victim, Indawala by his shirt from across the counter. The second suspect holding a knife went around to the back of the counter where Indawala was standing. Indawala opened the cash register and the second suspect grabbed the drawer from inside the register.

The first suspect also came around the counter, grabbed Indawala and threw him to the ground. He then proceeded to strike the victim several times in his head and stomach while Indawala was on the ground.

The second suspect, holding the register drawer set it down out of view of the camera. He then came back to where Indawala was, kicked the victim in the head and struck him several more times. He then grabbed several packs of cigarettes from the back counter.

Both suspects exited the store and entered a dark colored four door sedan and fled in an unknown direction. The victim was initially transported to Brandon Regional Hospital and due to the extent of his injuries later transported to Tampa General for treatment. Mr. Indawala remains in the hospital.
