Guess who’s batting .500 in the minor leagues? Arlington Heights resident and Prospect High School graduate Jason Leblebijian was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 25th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft Wednesday, June 7, 2012, started practice with the Bluefield Blue Jays in the Appalachian League (Rookie League) on June 10, 2012, and was moved up to the Vancouver Canadians in the Northwest League — a Class A-Short Season minor league baseball team — July 4.
Yesterday, the Vancouver Canadians (Toronto Blue Jays affiliate) beat the Boise Hawks (Chicago Cubs affiliate) in Boise 7-4 after winning 12-11 on Thursday.
Jason Leblebijian went 4-for-5 with a walk — raising his batting average from .194 to .500 (13-for-26 as of July 12) since moving up to Vancouver on July 4th. He left Bluefield, West Virginia on July 3. He also hit two solo home runs against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (San Francisco Giant affiliate) on Friday, July 6. The Volcanoes beat the Canadians 5-3.
