Cole Deacon, 19, died on Sunday at Level I Trauma Center Advocated Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge from injuries he suffered as a pedestrian that was struck by a car on Barrington Road near Terra Vita Drive. He suffered a major brain injury and numerous fractures.

Deacon, who lived in Palatine, may have been at a party at a neighborhood in the area — and preparing to go home — when he was struck by a car that was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed. The striking vehicle — a 2003 Toyota Corolla — driven by a 26-year-old male. Both the vehicle and the driver were still at the scene immediately after the incident. There is no word on any charges or arrest, but the incident is under investigation by South Barrington police, and no details have been released by police.

Barrington & Countryside firefighter/paramedics and South Barrington police responded about 1:30 a.m. Saturday to Barrington Road and Terra Vita Drive to a vehicle vs. pedestrian incident. Police were on the scene within three minutes, asked firefighter/paramedics to expedite, and shut down northbound Barrington Road at Mundhank Road. Hoffman Estates police blocked southbound Barrington Road at Route 62.

Firefighter/paramedics transported a male victim — a Palatine resident in his late teens or early 20’s — to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

The driver was possibly arrested DUI, but this has not been confirmed from police (UPDATE: The Cardinal The Cardinal Timothy Hughes Charged with Aggravated DUI After Car He Was Driving Hit, Killed Cole Deacon).

  1. This is not the Real Story. The kid was not driving Really fast and from what witnesses say the kid may have jumped in front of the car. the 19 Year old was .206 that’s really drunk and he Smoked a lot of weed. The driver was under the leagal limit he was not drunk.068. The 19 year old infact left a party no one could find him why the party hasnt been charged yet thats messed up they should of been the first people arrested this kid was under age.

  2. You have a point Megan. The story said that the victim ‘may have been at a party’, meaning he could have been drunk. And from what I see on the picture, it seems that the incident happened in the middle of the road. The victim might have crossed the street unconscious.

  3. The driver was Charged with agravated DUI , The victim was at a party and left his car ther as he called for a ride as he didnt want to be driving ..trying to cross a section of road with NO lighting .. But driver was a fault ..
