Arlington Heights police responded about 7:11 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a man with a knife and possible psychiatric emergency on the fourth floor at Stonebridge Apartments, 700 West Rand Road. Police received a report that a male subject in his 50’s was holding a kitchen knife and making threats — possibly suicidal. Police were on the scene in about three minutes and saw him in a hallway about two minutes later.
Police reported they had a barricade situation for a short period, but had the man in custody on the fourth floor after using a Taser about 7:20 p.m. Police immediately call for paramedics to respond to check on the male subject. The situation was secured within 10 minutes of the initial call for help.
