Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies Save Life of Palatine Man Using Naloxone on Chain O’ Lakes

#ad▼

On Saturday August 11, 2018, at approximately 12:30 AM, the Lake County Sheriff’s Marine Unit was on boat patrol between Grass Lake and Lake Marie, located on the Chain O’ Lakes. The deputies observed a boat commit numerous violations and initiated a traffic stop. The operator of the boat, a 29-year-old male of Palatine, was subsequently taken into custody after further investigation for Operating Under the Influence.

While being transported back to the Marine Unit processing facility, the male became unconscious and stopped breathing. The Marine Unit deputies quickly determined the male was likely suffering an opioid overdose. The deputies administered two doses of Naloxone to the male subject, which caused him to regain normal breathing and eventually regain consciousness. Antioch Rescue arrived on scene and the male was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he is expected to recover.

Operating Under the Influence charges are currently pending. The incident remains under investigation.
